What's Up With The Month Of October For Rock Music?!

Okay seriously, what is in the water in the month of October?

Recently, we showed how many nig names in rock music were born on October the 3rd, but that may actually pale in comparison to the amount that can be found on October the 9th!

Let’s star things off with the biggest of them all John Lennon, who founded a pretty popular band we all know as The Beatles! Along with Paul McCartney, John’s songwriting partnership is without question one of the most successful in history. The best-selling band of all time, has sold more than 600 million units worldwide, as Lennon in total has 25 No.1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100. Not bad for a boy from Liverpool.

Then there’s John Entwistle from The Who. As, one of the most influential bassists of all time whose band scored 16 Top 40 singles, becoming one of the most dominant bands of all time. The Rock And Roll Hall Of Famer’s style and sound made him one of the most distinctive musicians of his time and the classics he’s laid down are as timeless as rock music itself.

Jackson Browne has had a career in music since he was 16 years old.

He gave The Eagles their first Top 40 with 'Take It Easy’, and in that same year hit big with his self-titled debut, which included the classics, 'Doctor, My Eyes' and 'Rock Me on the Water'. His iconic album “Running On Empty” scored hits with the title track and the single 'Stay', which peaked at #3 on the US chart. His 1982 hit ‘Somebody’s Baby’ sold over 30 million albums in the US alone, making him one of the most successful songwriters of all time.

Sharon Osbourne also shares a birthday on this day in October, as the First Lady of Heavy Metal has blazed a trail across the industry. A tv personality, manager, and author, the wife of Ozzy Osbourne not only saved the career of the Godfather of Metal, but also starred on MTV’s The Osbournes Show, became a judge on The X Factor and America's Got Talent, and revolutionized rock tours with Ozzfest.

October is one Hell of a month for music, fully earning its Rocktober moniker.
