Deep Purple Is Giving A Deep Cut Some Love

Deep Purple remixed and expanded "Rapture of the Deep"!

20 years after its release, the album is the fourth release since Steve Morse took over for Ritchie Blackmore and the second after Don Airey succeeded Jon Lord. The reissue will be released on August, 29 in CD Digipak, digital, 3LP black 180-gram vinyl or limited-edition 3LP transparent sky-blue vinyl editions.

"We were going through a bit of a hard time when we started the songwriting and production of Rapture of the Deep," bassist Roger Glover admits. "and, strangely enough, we didn't have a record company at that point. Let's face it, we were a bit lost."

Deep Purple had just been dropped by EMI, after two-albums, neither of which charted in the U.S., but did hit the Top 20 in a few countries, including Austria, Switzerland and Germany. Glover worked on a new mix, which was analog-mastered, and includes a bonus CD/LP of previously unreleased instrumental takes and studio rehearsals.
