Crazy footage of 50 riders on the drop tower at Phase 8 Amusement Park (in India) took a plummeting 50 foot fall straight to the ground. You can watch the footage below:
This took place on Sunday and left 16 people injured. They are citing a broken elevator as the reason for the unexpected fall, which crash landed and sent some riders flying out of their seats (despite seatbelts). Some of the victims were as young as 10. Those who were injured were rushed to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is unclear at the moment.
And, according to an eyewitness, Jaspreet Kaur:
"...fairground bouncers tried to 'threaten' them for intervening and that the 'organizers also fled the scene.'”
Mohali Police are calling the organizers “negligent” and have begun an official investigation. The fair, originally slated to end on Sunday the 4th, remains up and running through September 11th.
