Chihuahua Found With Arrow In Neck, Survives

A tiny 4-month-old Chihuahua was found shot with an arrow in the 15500 block of Avenida Florencita in Desert Hot Springs on Monday just before 7am, according to Riverside County Animal Services. The arrow, longer than the pup, was removed by veterinarians, who report that the tiny pup is barking and wagging its tail after only two days.

The arrow punctured the Chihuahua’s neck and the officer who found dog held her the entire way to the animal hospital, where the arrow was removed. Thankfully, the arrow did not puncture any vital arteries.

As Erin Gettis, Animal Services states:

“For someone to willfully shoot this poor pup with an arrow is disgusting. We are shocked, and we hope someone can provide us any information as to who did this. Meanwhile, we’ll continue to treat this puppy and work on finding her a suitable home.”

If anyone has any information, police are asking people to contact Riverside County Animal Services at (951) 358-7387 or via email at shelterinfo@rivco.org.
