If you are like me, you are REALLY looking forward to seeing a live rock concert and have probably been wondering what's up with AFTERSHOCK 2020 that was scheduled for a 3 day return to Discovery Park in Sacramento! The event was to feature two nights with the mighty Metallica!
Just got off the phone with the man behind AFTERSHOCK and countless other HUGE rock festivals around the country – Danny Wimmer. Check out the full interview below, but here are a few of the details for the move of AFTERSHOCK to 2021:
- The new dates are October 7th - 10th, 2021 at Discovery Park;
- Yes, you read that right! 4 days of AFTERSHOCK festival! They added a 4th date and will soon be announcing a 4th night headliner. This 4th day will be a "free" date for all ticket holders, so hold on to your tickets;
- Metallica is still scheduled to headline 2 of the nights (Friday, October 8th and Sunday, October 10th) for two unique sets. My Chemical Romance will headline Saturday, October 9th. ;
- All ticket holders will get an email on Monday, July 27th with full details on how to defer your tickets until 2021 and how to request a refund if you need it;
- The full lineup is scheduled to be announced in February 2021;
- If you need to order a refund on tickets, look for the details via email directly from AFTERSHOCK, but thefestivalwas sold out, so you might want to hold on to your tickets.

Dear Aftershock Rockers,
After all the harm caused by COVID-19, there is nothing that we wanted more than to be celebrating Aftershock with you this October at Discovery Park for what was going to be a monumental weekend. We, the artists, and Sacramento County all thought we had a shot at being the first post-COVID festival to happen. That really would have been incredible. We waited as long as we could but, unfortunately, the recent spike of cases now requires that we reschedule this year’s sold-out Aftershock to 2021.
Metallica and My Chemical Romance have been confirmed for Aftershock 2021, to be held at Discovery Park in Sacramento, CA October 7, 8, 9 and 10, 2021. And yes, you read that right. We are excited to announce that, thanks to our friends at Jack Daniel’s, we are adding a fourth night to Aftershock 2021, as an epic celebratory evening to kick-off the return of California’s favorite rock festival. Full festival lineup will be announced this October.
All passes purchased for 2020 will automatically be good for 2021. Current Aftershock pass purchasers will receive an email on July 27 with details regarding their 2020 purchase. As an exclusive gift to all our fans who defer to 2021 with us, we are offering the newly added fourth night for FREE. The opportunity to obtain a full refund will also be available.
