It wasn't long ago that the cronut (croissant + donut) took over, people obsessed with the circular, buttery and flaky pastry:
Donuts + chicken nuggets.
Yes, chicken nuggets shaped like donuts. The chicken is coated in a panko/cornflake breading, deep fried then dipped in one of three sauce choices: cheesy Dijon béchamel, a golden Japanese curry with mozzarella or a hot chili sauce. It's a savory alternative to the sweetness of a regular donut or cronut.
The donug hails from Australia, a festival favorite sold at $9/donug, featured on Shark Tank Australia to hopefully expand distribution outside of Melbourne and put donugs on the map globally.
But we gotta say this... nothing will ever replace a perfect glazed donut.
