The most popular album of all time now belongs to the Eagles. According to the Recording Industry Association Of America, Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975), has been certified platinum 38 times. That's 38 million copies that have been sold. That means they are beating the second biggest record, Michael Jackson’s Thriller, by five million copies.
The Eagles also took the number three spot all time with their Hotel California record, with sales at 26 million.
In a statement, Eagles frontman Don Henley said, “We are grateful for our families, our management, our crew, the people at radio, and, most of all, the loyal fans who have stuck with us through the ups and downs of 46 years. It’s been quite a ride.”
