This is a see to believe it sort of deal: Spongebob Squarepants and Patrick Start were spotted together under the sea... in real life. Footage captured, not by Nickelodeon, shows the two creatures posed on top of a rock roughly a mile under the surface of the Atlantic:
The photo was taken by the National Oceanic Atmospheric Association's (NOAA) Okeanos Expolorer, roughly 200 miles of the Atlantic coast.
Unfortunately, sponges and sea stars aren't the best of friends like Spongebob and Patrick. In actuality, according to scientist Christopher Mah, the most likely reason they're sitting next to each other is because sea stars tend to dine on sponges. Looks like Patrick may have found himself a snack!
