In the entire country, a southern Californian water district officially has the best tasting tap water in the U.S. In the 31st Annual Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting, the top three contenders were:
- First Place: Metropolitan Water District of Southern California
- Second Place: Santa Ana, California
- Third Place: Southwest Water Authority of Dickinson, North Dakota
Nine judges ranked the water based upon taste, odor, mouth feel and aftertaste. 19 states, 3 Canadian provinces and 14 other countries entered the contest. Rossarden (Australia) was crowned the best municipal water in the world.
