And The Rock has hinted that he would actually consider it. In 2016, he told GQ magazine that he "would not rule out a run" and that the idea of was "alluring". Then, on The Ellen Show, he said he was "seriously considering becoming a candidate". In 2018 on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, he said he was "absolutely contemplating a run". Ultimately, he's said it would be "up to the people.
