Sacramento Teen's Book Is Now Being Sold By A Major Retailer

A 17-year-old from Elk Grove has spent his time during the COVID-19 pandemic writing a joke book.

While the book has been selling on Amazon, Josiah Johnson's book has reached another marker of success.

CVS stores nationwide are now selling Johnson's book. The teen told KCRA3 he now has enough money to pay for four years of college.

"I never would have thought that I would be an author of my joke book, but having the idea, it really helped me, and then seeing it in the store," said Johnson. "It's like, us African Americans, they see us mostly as athletes, but you got entrepreneurs, authors, doctors."

"Jo's Jokin' Jokes" hit CVS store shelves on Bradshaw Road in Elk Grove this week, according to KCRA3.

Johnson, a student at Sheldon High School, wrote his first joke book when was 13-years-old. Four years later his second joke book will be sold at CVS stores across the country in time for Easter.

"For me to be in the community of the people in the low percent that are (African American authors), that's our culture, that's super dope. Just knowing that I'm doing something that is bigger than myself," he said.
