Sadly, David Deshon (69) of Foresthill was found dead two days after being reported missing. Touchingly, his dog Baby Dog never left his side.
His daughter, Shona, believes that David's car became stuck. Based upon his tracks in the snow, he tried to hike home, but ultimately returned to his vehicle. He was ultimately found with Baby Dog laying upon his chest to try and keep him warm. Shona is thankful for the dog, having this to say:
“And Baby Dog stayed with him. He didn’t die alone. He didn’t die alone at all.”
David had another dog, Buddy, who was found at a nearby neighbor's home. Both dogs have been taken to the Placer County Animal Services facility in Auburn, where Buddy is being treated with antibiotics and Baby Dog is suffering from a broken heart. Shona is hoping to bring Baby Dog home and Buddy is available for adoption.
