It's the most wonderful time of the year, but for some, it can be a bit stressful.
On top of the usual stress inducers like last-minute shopping and travel plans, 2020 has its own set of unique worries.
With the on-going coronavirus pandemic, there is a lot to be stressed about this year.
A recent GasBuddy study revealed the top 10 cities with the 'scroogiest' drivers during the 2020 holiday season are mainly in California.
According to their data, these are the Top 10 Cities With The Most Aggressive Holiday Drivers are:
- Los Angeles, CA
- San Deigo, CA
- Sacramento, CA
- Memphis, TN
- Miami-Fort Lauderdale
- Raleigh, N.C.
- Dallas-Fort Worth
- Detroit, MI
- Charlotte, N.C.
The head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, Patrick DeHaan, has a possible explanation for California's high rankings this year.
"California issuing another round of stay-at-home orders immediately ahead of Thanksgiving on Nov. 19 could have been the catalyst for the highest percent of grinch-style aggressive driving occurring in the country," said DeHaan. "When we are anxious and stressed, it surfaces in a multitude of ways including how we drive."
To determine the rankings, GasBuddy looked at which cities had the highest frequency of aggressive driving habits like speeding, hard braking, and rapid acceleration.
