Fred Meyer, a division of Kroger, has announced that it will partner with state health departments and the federal government to provide access to the FDA-authorized COVID-19 vaccine, aligned with the federal roll-out plan.
With 133 pharmacies across the Pacific Northwest, Fred Meyer’s widespread presence in local communities gives them the unique ability to efficiently administer the vaccine to a large portion of the population.
“At Fred Meyer we are committed to helping people live healthier lives. We have been diligent to do our part in the community to stop the spread of the virus,” said Abdi Osman, Director of Pharmacy, Health and Wellness at Fred Meyer. “Affordable antibody testing is now available at all Fred Meyer pharmacies, and our team of healthcare professionals are actively preparing for the authorization of the COVID-19 vaccine. Fred Meyer stands with you to keep the Pacific Northwest and the surrounding communities healthy and safe.”
Throughout the pandemic, Fred Meyer has remained an industry leader in offering in-clinic, at-home and free drive-through COVID-19 testing solutions. Fred Meyer also continues to offer free COVID-19 testing to all frontline associates.
More recently, parent company, Kroger, became the nation’s first retailer to offer rapid antibody tests to customers in all Kroger pharmacies for just $25. Rapid antibody testing helps inform patients if they previously have been infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, and results are typically ready in around 15 minutes.
