Movies Delayed Due To Covid

Movies are a great distraction, especially when public health officials are recommending staying home. And many of us were looking forward to a few BIG releases this year (or next year), but unfortunately, many are being delayed. Thanks Corona.

Top Gun: Maverick

Original release date: 12/23/2020. Now opening 7/2/2021.

A Quiet Place Part II

Original Release Date: 9/4/2020. Now opening April 23, 2021.

Paramount released a statement regarding the delays:

"To the theatrical experience and our exhibition partners, and want to stress that we are confident that, when the time comes, audiences everywhere will once again enjoy the singular joy of seeing Paramount films on the big screen."

Disney's Mulan

Original Release Date: 8/21/2020. Disney has updated the date to "unset".

Avatar 2

Original Release Date: 12/17/2020. Delayed to 12/16/2022. Avatar 3 pushed from December 2023 to December 2024. Avatar 4 pushed to 2026 and Avatar 5 to December 2028.

Here's what James Cameron wrote regarding the franchise:

"There is no one more disappointed about this delay than me. What most of you likely don't know is that the pandemic is still preventing us from being allowed to recommence most of our virtual production work on stage in Los Angeles. That work is just as critical to the films as the live-action work."

Star Wars

Three untitled films have been delayed as well. One was set to release 12/16/2022, pushed to 12/22/2023. Another was slated for December 2026, now December 2027. The third movie was pushed from December 2026 to December 2027.

Jackass

Original Release Date: 7/2/2021. Moved to 9/3/2021.
