#Chewsday: 7-Eleven Slurpee Day Was Cancelled

Sadly, for the first time in 18 years, 7-Eleven cancelled their infamous 7-Eleven Day where they give out free Slurpees (7/11, this past Saturday).

Cue the tears of Slurpee enthusiasts everywhere.

7-Eleven has done this every summer since 2002. This is the first time in 18 years that it was cancelled.

Thanks Corona...

7-Eleven chose to celebrate it's birthday in other ways, 7‑Eleven Senior Vice President Marissa Jarratt stating:

"At 7‑Eleven, our top priority is the safety of customers, Franchisees and employees. Gathering nine million of our closest friends in stores on one day just didn't feel right, but I am heartened that we now have the opportunity to help the communities and neighborhoods that have been the lifeline of our business since 1927."

Instead, 7-Eleven donated one million meals to Feeding America, a national non-profit.

And, despite cancelling 7-Eleven Day, you can still get a free Slurpee throughout the month of July if you are a member of the 7Rewards loyalty app, which has a coupon in loaded for one free medium Slurpee. New app users can still get the coupon (through the end of the month).
