D.C. Rat Seen Pulling Fire Alarm in Condo Building

rat triggers fire alarm in Washington D.C. condominium

Security camera footage from inside a Washington D.C. condo building revealed the culprit behind a fire alarm that went off last summer, sparking an evacuation of the building.

The video recorded inside the condominium building shows the culprit as a rat that was attempting to jump from a handrailing up to the fire alarm. Video shows the alarm being triggered by the rodent's weight.

NBC News reports that the alarm forced an evacuation of the building as firefighters worked to determine whether there was a fire. At first, no one knew what triggered the alarm until officials reviewed the security footage.

The report doesn't indicate where in D.C. the incident occurred.
