Record Amount Of Plastic Found In Arctic Sea Ice

Scientists say they've found a record amount of plastic in Arctic sea ice.  The discovery announced last night is adding to worries about how this might affect marine life and the health of people.  Core samples taken in five regions of the Arctic Ocean are three times higher than levels in earlier studies.  Researchers found fragments of packaging, nylon, paints, polyester, and cellulose acetate, which is used in cigarette filters.

Experts say the findings give more weight to risks of near-permanent contamination of the Earth.
