Well it's official, the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is cancelled this year. Since 1995 the show has been aired annually but changing beauty standards and society's second guessing of what the term "beauty" actually means have lead the show to being cancelled. Ed Razek, VS’s former chief marketing officer,Ed Razek, VS’s former chief marketing officer,Ed Razek, VS’s former chief marketing officer, stated last year that plus size and transgender models would not be walking on the Angels' runway. As a brand, Victoria's Secret revenue has been declining for a while now so it is not news to some that this would be the fate of the show. It is not stated whether the show is cancelled for good or just this year.
L Brands, which is the parent company for Victoria's Secret stated they plan to move forward without the show in their marketing strategy for the season. The L Brands CEO Les Wexner, commented that the company is deciding to refocus their brand and has new and exciting content planned for future events.
