TOP TRENDS FROM THE SF FANCY FOOD SHOW

I have friends who attend the San Francisco Fancy Food Show every year.  This year, it ran Sunday, January 21st-23rd (so it ends today).  I've always wanted to check it out because I'm definitely a Millennial foodie and there's always something really tasty/cool that they discover each year.  Here are some of the top trends from this year's show:

Teriacha

Teri = Teriyaki, acha =  Sriracha

Yes, this is a combo of teriyaki and Sriracha!  Admittedly, if/when I eat chicken teriyaki, I heavily douse it with Sriracha.  So this is essentially saving me the added step of drowning my food in the magical red sauce!

Dana's Rating:

Hell to the yes!

The Republic of Tea's Apple Cider Vinegar Single Sips

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) touts seemingly endless health benefits: blood sugar, weight loss, cholesterol, blood pressure and so, so much more.  I usually heat up 8oz of water, mix in just a small spoonful of honey and a shot of ACV, but these packets have me intrigued.  Not only does the cranberry hibiscus flavor sound enticing to me, but this is supposed to make ACV more palatable.

Dana's Rating:

Yep, I'd definitely try it.

Redd Bars

This is yet another "wellness" bar.  The Redd Bar contains superfoods and caffeine, in addition to 10g of protein.

Dana's Rating:

Probably not.  I'm not big on protein bars.  And this one has caffeine in it.  Which means, if I ate it, I'd probably feel like I'm having a heart attack.

Alove Yogurt

Apparently aloe vera yogurt is a big trend in Japan.  This yogurt is supposed to promote gut health.

Dana's Rating:

Yep!!  I really like aloe "juice" so this is definitely up my alley.  And, gut health is definitely on my list of health priorities.

Moringa

Moringa, which is apparently this year's new superfood, comes in a powder or tea form. This one, from Miracle Foods (a tea plantation out of Sri Lanka) mixes moringa with the caffeine from their organic black tea a drink that is sure to boost your energy.

Dana's Rating:  Maybe, but not likely.  I don't drink caffeinated drinks.  I'm definitely intrigued by the new superfood, but I'd like to try it by itself.  I do like that they use black tea as the source for the caffeine, though.

Runamok Maple Syrup

Maple syrup is often used for more than just pancakes these day.  These syrups are infused with different fruits and flavors, such as makrut-lime.  They're said to be fantastic for anything and everything from pork chops to cocktails.

Dana's Rating:

Yep, I'd try it.  Especially if there's a particularly interesting flavor that piques my interest.  And, I'd definitely use it on glazed pork chops and possibly in an Old Fashioned.

What about you?  Which one of these items would you try?  Which ones would you absolutely NOT try?
