Anticipation is building in Yuba City, as the town could become part of history after Saturday's Belmont Stakes.

California Chrome is going for the Triple Crown and co-owners Perry and Denise Martin are from Yuba City.

The town is going all out for their hometown hero as businesses are teaming up with the city to put on a huge block party for the race.

However, sports reporter Mike Mreczko says there are a couple horses in the field that could derail the Triple Crown hopes for California Chrome.

"Whether it's Commanding Curve or Wicked Strong, those were a couple of horses that people are particularly looking at that had good performances in the Kentucky Derby and skipped the Preakness. So they could be especially dangerous with an extra couple of weeks of rest," Mreczko said.

But even with the challenge, and temperatures expected to top 100 degrees in Yuba City, the festival is expected to draw more than 25,000 people to watch the race.
