Update: Traffic on eastbound I-80 contiues to be backed up as fire crews continue to battle a seven alarm fire in Fairfield. It started around 3:45 this afternoon in vegetation near Marigold Drive. It quickly reached some homes and threatened others.

The Fairfield and Solano County Fire Departments are on scene as well as CalFire. We've also heard that trucks may have also come from as far as Orinda, Moraga and San Ramon to help out.

The two right lanes of eastbound I-80 were briefly closed but have since reopened. Fairfield High School has been set up as an evacuation center.

The Fairfield and the Solano County Fire Departments are battling what they are calling a seven alarm vegetation fire near I-80. A CalFire Strike has also been called in. The fire is by Marigold Dr. and has already burned about six homes. It's also causing evacuations of other homes.  Because it is also right off the freeway, it is slowing down traffic. We'll get more details as they become available.
