High winds are responsible for snapping a dead tree in half, falling on a car with two women inside. It happened just before 8 a.m. at the French Lake Grange in the community of Dobbins in Yuba County.

Sherri Pesich was killed, her friend Terri Hunter critially injured. A neighbor, Lisa Baker, saw it happen and told News10 she rushed to help them.

"We just started talking to each, to Terri and to Sherri, we weren't even sure that Sherri could hear us at that point, but we just wanted to let them know that we had more help coming," Baker said.

The women were in the only car in the lot at the time. Survivor Terri Hunter was flown to a hospital in Sacramento. She is in critical condition at this time.
