Rescue crews are looking for three men after a speed boat capsized in Folsom Lake.

California State Parks Sgt. Ryan Steele said it is unclear if the men in the boat were wearing life jackets at the time of the accident.

The accident happened in the middle of the lake, near Brown's Ravine, around 1:45 p.m. Saturday. Steele said it was a remote area of the lake in front of Folsom Dam and near the peninsula.

The speed boat, which is 35 to 40 feet long, was recovered by crews. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

The water was searched by jet skis and a California Highway Patrol Helicopter, but no one was found. Dive teams from California State Parks and Sacramento County are at the scene to help in the search, Folsom Lake State Park spokesperson Vicky Waters said.

California State Parks, the lead agency in the search effort, is working with Placer County Sheriff's Office, the South Placer Fire District and El Dorado County Sheriff's Office to recover the missing people.

A command post is set up at Stage 3 at the Granite Bay Boat Ramp area.
