The tradition of high school graduating class sweatshirts is causing problems at Cosumnes Oaks High in Elk Grove -- and some parents are worried.

Sweatshirts designed for the Class of 2014 at Cosumnes High are causing the problem.

They prominently feature the roman numerals for 14 on the front in the school colors.

But there are parents and students who tell News10 they want nothing to do with the shirts because of a connection to infamous Nortenos gang of Northern California.

But other parents are not bothered by the shirts. School district officials say the shirts were approved and won't be banned-- an advisory letter will go out to parents.

Still, a Sac County Sheriff's gang taskforce officer says he wouldn't let his child wear the shirt.
