It's growing every day, Sacramento Police are seeing success with a "virtual" neighborhood watch.

About five months ago the department partnered with social media site, which allows neighbors to blog and post amongst each other, plus communicate directly with officers.  To date the sign-ups have just passed the 10,000 mark...

"It reflects over 114 neighborhoods that we're connected with now using the app," said Chief Sam Somers.

Somers said it's now easier to tailor what information they send out.

"and it's amazing how much it's really helped us," said Kris Levy with the Land Park Neighborhood Watch.

She said they post all the time about suspcious activity, most recently about a car that seemed to be casing the area.
