A pair of state lawmakers are working to restore funding to California's Medicaid Program.

Assemblymembers Dr. Richard Pan and Nancy Skinner have each introduced bills aimed at making the Medi-Cal Program more cost-effective, transparent and accountable.

The bills would restore funding cuts made to Medi-Cal rates and extend primary care rate increases that have been temporarily introduced under the Affordable Care Act.

Sharon Spurgeon, representing the California Hospital Association, says the legislation is critical to all of California... pointing to elderly patients who count on the availability of hospital-based nursing facilities.
