OAKDALE, Calif. -- A man pulled over for allegedly driving under the influence was found with a dead cat in the back of his truck early on Friday morning.

What Oakdale Police David Peters found in David Aguiar's pick up was shocking, he said.

"The entire truck was covered in cat fur. It was if he had shaved a cat inside the cab of his truck," Peters said.

A search turned up a dead cat on the back floor of the vehicle.  That's when Aguiar explained what happened.

Aguiar saw a cat while he was driving down the street, decided he wanted to pet it and then proceeded to beat the cat to death, Peters said.

Aguiar said it was all because the cat scratched him. Aguiar was arrested for driving under the influence of meth and extreme cruelty to an animal.
