A five dollar surcharge on each ticket sold at Sleep Train Arena unanimously passed the City Council Tuesday Night. The money will be used to help pay down 66-million dollars in bonds issued by the city and loans to the Kings Organization back in 1997.

The bonds are due in 2016 or when the team leaves Sleep Train Arena. By helping the Kings retire the debt this frees up the team to take additional loans for the planning and design work for the new downtown arena.
