California's unemployment rate is down again, but Sacramento's has ticked up.

The state added more than 24,000 jobs in June to regain all that were lost during the recession and bring the jobless rate to 7.4 percent.

The Sacramento area also posted gains, but they were offset by grads and students who are now on summer break.

"They weren't counted before, so now they are," George Marley with the Employment Development Department said.

Marley says our regional rate is now 6.9 percent. Leisure and hospitality lead in the gains. Overall.

"The region continues to trend in a positive direction, posting 22,500 jobs or 2.6 percent," he said.

Despite all the progress, California is still tied for the fourth highest unemployment rate.
