California is getting a multi-million dollar assist from the federal government to help with the drought.
Department of Water Resources spokesman Doug Carlson says it's great to hear Washington is sending more than $9.5 million to help thousands of people whose wells or other sources of water have gone dry.
"This federal money will undoubtedly help some rural counties that are short of water, and we welcome all the help we can get," Carlson said.
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced the aid package on Friday.
The money will be spread across some 11 counties in California.
