A California slaughterhouse is voluntarily shutting down amid a massive beef recall.

Federal regulators say more than 8.5 million pounds of beef products processed at Rancho Feeding Corporation in Petaluma last year were shipped without a full federal inspection.

Ranchers in the area say the recall is not necessary as most of the products have already been consumed with no complaints.

Now that Rancho Feeding is temporarily closed, ranchers are being forced to transport their cattle outside of the region in order to reach another processor.
