West Sacramento is looking for bids to build a bridge that will make getting around that city a whole lot easier. The new bridge would go over the Barge Canal, connecting the north to the south, in West Sacramento. Mayor Christopher Cabaldon says the new bridge will cut the congestion for West Sac commuters by as much as 50 percent and should open up countless opportunities for the city. The bridge's estimated cost is $9.68 million, all of which would be covered by an existing state grant. Construction is expected to start in the fall.
