President Barack Obama said he is "deeply concerned" by the Egyptian military's decision to suspend the country's constitution and remove President Mohamed Mursi from power.

He also said that he had directed his administration to review the legal implications of Wednesday's events on U.S. aid to Egypt.

President Obama called on the Egyptian military "to move quickly and responsibly to return full authority back to a democratically elected civilian government as soon as possible through an inclusive and transparent process."
