President Barack Obama says he's disappointed with today's Supreme Court decision on the Voting Rights Act. The only black lawmaker in Mississippi's congressional delegation, Democrat Bennie Thompson, says the ruling "guts the most critical portion of the most important civil rights legislation of our time." But other Southern lawmakers and governors say it's overdue. Today's court decision effectively puts an end to the advance approval requirement that has been used to open up polling places to minority voters since 1965.
