SACRAMENTO -- A Sacramento mother is behind bars after her child fell out of the van she was driving.

Twenty-two-year old Alissa Anderson was taken into custody yesterday after a witness reportedly saw her child fall from the hatchback of her van onto the road and then climb back in.

"Obviously we became concerned so we started a welfare check just to make sure the child was OK and there wasn't any other circumstances that were going to have further injuries," said Doug Morse with the Sacramento Police Department.

Morse says the child was OK but when officers met Anderson at her home on 82nd Street they found her in the possession of narcotics.

She's facing child endangerment and drug charges. Her children have been placed with family members.
