It's a crucial day for the future of the Sacramento Kings.  In New York City, Mayor Johnson and his whales and a group of Seattle buyers are presenting their offers to buy the team to the NBA today. The Seattle group trying to move the team has been presenting in front of an NBA Special Committee of 12 owners, Commissioner David Stern and other NBA officials this morning.
The Seattle group headed by investor Chris Hansen and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has a pending agreement with the Maloof family to buy 65 percent of the team and move it back to the city the SuperSonics left in 2008. Sacramento has put together its own group to make a competing bid.
Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson and his team arrived at the St. Regis hotel in Manhattan at about 9:15 this morning. The Mayor was joined by State Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, Investors Vivek Ranadiva, Mark Mastrov and Ron Burkle. The Play to Win tour, lead by grassroots organizer Carmichael Dave is also at the meeting. The Sacramento group is expected to present their case to the NBA sometime this afternoon. After they are done the group is expected to address the media. A final vote from the NBA is expected during the owners meeting on April 18-19.
