SACRAMENTO -- The California Board of Equalization is looking into at least one complaint about the sales tax being charged by the Pep Boys store in the 2500 block of Arden Way.

Customer Frank Miller tells News10 he checked his receipt and discovered he had been charged 8.5 percent in sales tax, but that's the rate charged in the City of Sacramento.

That Pep Boys store is in the county and should be charging 8 percent. Jaime Garza with the Board of Equalization says this might not have been intentional.

A Pep Boys corporate official says the tax rate in the registers is programmed by the company computer system and not local employees.
